The city of Chicopee, MA contacted the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Massachusetts to develop a plan to “green” their city. This gave us the opportunity to work at a regional scale and explore solutions for bringing sustainability to a variety of land use contexts.
Part of my contribution to this project included demonstrating ways in which the city could reduce pollution (CSO's) caused by stormwater surface overflow.
In addition to our overall recommendations, the city asked us to provide specific solutions for Roberts Pond, a polluted and dried up water body that had become an eyesore and safety hazard.
