This studio presented the opportunity to work with real clients and engage a real site. At the end of the studio we presented our designs to our clients and the department.

  • Integrate interior living spaces with outdoor rooms that could serve for entertaining, cooking or relaxing;
  • Relate garden to surrounding context;
  • Provide for walking, wandering, gardening and general enjoyment of the outdoors;
  • Incorporate water into the design.

Entry garden

An entry garden is located on the west side of the house. It includes a series of small mini-terraces that create a sense of procession as one moves from the parking area to the entrance of the house. Although separated from the rest of the site by translucent screens, the entry garden includes visual cues that connect it to the house and the garden to the south. For example, the dimensions of the screens directly reference the fenestration of the loggia. And a large beautiful birch specimen greets visitors and provides a hint of the garden to come.
